It's Nice Up North!

It's great to stay with people who make one feel as if one is in one's second home and Zosia and Rob were great hosts! I've never been in this part of England before- watch out guys, I'm coming back!

No, that's not them but I thought I'd give them a laugh! People that live in the south have no clue what life is like up north, even in a relatively small country like England.

Zo and Rob have a beautiful Edwardian home in Barrow. I love older homes, they have so much character.

Here's an artist's impression of their home with the cherry blossom in bloom. I love it!

Barrow in Furness borders the English Lake District and, in the summer, is crowded with tourists. In the winter when it's cold, wet and blowing, we had it all to ourselves!!

These cottages are typical of homes in the area.

Multi-coloured heather in window boxes

Here's a closer view, aren't the colours glorious, love the orange!

Lots of interesting places to stop and eat

Buildings to look at and admire

Wouldn't you like to live here?

With ducks as neighbours

Cartmel Priory, another victim of the Reformation but painstakingly restored to it's former glory:

Stone walls, typical of the Lake District and look what's growing despite the cold!

Lovingly rescued from dereliction and painstakingly restored into a thriving business by Zo and Rob

                                 Just because I want to!!!

                                Talk soon  - Do widzenia!
