I'm leaving on a jet plane!

Well,  January was a looooooong month and seemed to go on forever. I tried to maintain some level of optimism for warmer days and more sunlight:

It rained:

And then rained some more:

Even a trip to the movies to see 'Testament of Youth' was disappointing. I don't think it will be winning any Oscars but 'The Imitation Game' was brilliant:

Thanks, Jo, for taking me! She's an old school friend who is a very smart cookie and a world traveller. She's off to Iran in the next few weeks and I'm madly envious. Her mother, Olive, was a nurse and inspired me to go into nursing. I could, and did, listen for hours to her nursing stories, all told in a very droll and Irish way.

The rain turned into snow and freezing temperatures.

I turned to junk food and then more junk food:

These are to humans what pig ears are to dogs!! I could hear my arteries scream out in protest!
Loaded with sat fats and salt! But oh, so good and just what I craved!

Even this guy failed to inspire!! That's how bad it got!! He's just been reincarnated as Henry V111
on a new TV series called Wolf Hall:

I don't think he looks quite as sexy in a dress! He just received an OBE (Order of the British Empire)
for his contribution to acting:

Here he is receiving his award from Prince William, they both went to Eton.He cleans up well, doesn't he??

This is how I was beginning to feel!

Retail therapy didn't help!

Even a trip to the steam rooms and sauna at the Victoria Leisure Centre didn't help!

Here I am with my friend, Chris, in the steam room. We're waving at the camera, can you see us?

The outdoor flowers on display at the florist's cheered me up a bit, but not for long.

A trip to Tesco's was a bit inspirational. These life- size cutouts of policemen are supposed to deter shoplifters! They cost $500 and (apparently) are supposed to work. They have, however, been stolen on numerous occasions and end up often in people's homes! In my day, it was traffic cones but I wouldn't have been averse to taking him home. Here I am gazing adoringly at him!

It got so cold that this Polar bear was spotted on the Tube in London!

And on the Millennium Bridge!

Actually he is a VERY good animatronic created to promote a new TV series here and was operated by two men who "worked" the horses in the stage production of War Horse. He looks pretty realistic to me.

Nothing seemed to help. I was beginning to look, and, feel like this:

So I went here:

Which colour do you think I chose?

And then I got online and booked a trip to here:

Which is where I will be in a few days! Any guesses where it is?

Talk soon
Zoe
