More retail therapy in London....the posh shops!

In the last blog I posted, I omitted one really
great store that Krys and I visited - an iconic London
department store that has been around for eons
and is a treat for the senses...

Liberty's - located just off Regent Street

My very favourite departments ......  Fabrics and Haberdashery..

Check out the light fixtures...

I could spend hours in here!

Lots of ideas for crafts.... and some of the softest
cotton fabric you've ever seen or felt....

Liberty's world renowned Tana Lawn:

I plan to go back and get some - once I've decided what
to make........

The very next day we decided to hit the streets of
South Kensington. Our first stop was.......

for a little bit of culture!

I loved this glass creation - hanging just above the
reception desk- let's hope it's secure!

Inside the courtyard.... and the cafe.....

Victoria Sponge - one of my favourite English cakes - filled
with jam and fresh English cream.........

We cut the culture part short as we both decided to head
across the road to this famous department store......

Harrods of Knightsbridge.....
Our first stop was at the famous Harrods Food Hall....
Check out the yummy goods......

Can't you tell I'm a sugar junkie!

The Food Hall is particularly splendid..... it's a treat just
to walk around.....

We headed to the charcuterie......

Check out the prices - all in 100 gms..... and in £'s.....

We headed over to the fish counter.......

and checked out the cherries from Chile at £90/kg.......

and the truffles under the glass dome.... at £3000/kg!

Dates from all corners of the globe......

and you can even buy gold salt.......
It sounds more grandiose than it is - sea salt with gold food
colouring!

Well, Harrods Food Hall is not a place I'd do my weekly shop,
but, I couldn't leave without getting a little something.....

but I'm not telling you what it is as it's a surprise!

We headed down to the lower ground floor via the Egyptian
escalator.......we both wanted to see this shrine:

Set up by Mohammed Fayed to honour his son, Dodi
and Princess Diana, following their deaths in a car crash
many years ago in Paris. At the time the elder Fayed was the
owner of Harrods but it is now under new ownership. The
shrine remains, a great tourist draw......

The supposed engagement ring.....

And a statue to the "innocent victims."
Actually it all seemed a little tacky.

We headed upstairs to the Toy Department, still
on the lookout for Paw Patrol........

And saw one of the famous Harrod's doormen.....

This time composed entirely from Lego blocks and looking
slightly boss- eyed!

Every toy under the sun but no Paw Patrol to be seen!

We headed downstairs - this beauty caught my eye....

And in my colour too! But the price tag made me stop in my tracks....

So we headed to the parfumerie for some free samples.....

Lots of staff and few customers.....

So we were indulged!

We had a totally fun time and definitely didn't blow the wad....

I think I'm still laughing at the prices,

I'd much rather spend my pennies doing this:

Which is where I was today..... And look where I ended up.....

                                    Ciao!

                                Talk soon
